About Jack McGee and Etched In Stone
Each of my works carries with it the embodiment of my desire for perfection in millennia enduring objects. It is my life-work, the work from my heart. These are works our childrens children will pass on to their succeeding generations. Your home and fireplace art are pieces that can be enjoyed for the long lives of your family, as long as your structure stands, then taken, long years in the future, when the building is enveloped in strangling vines and again melts into the earth, to be installed again, enjoyed again at the new fireplace of your future generations.
"This is why this is the work of my life: It is for us now, for those we love, and those they will love who will follow!"
My fascination has always been stone, the marvelous sense of time it exudes, the all but complete incomprehensibility of its magnitude. Stones can hint at the immensity, the existence of a moment in lineal time, as we perceive it. We breathe, love, experience joys and sorrows, we nurture those we cherish, we work and play, we live out our lives in the vast expanse of universe on a small stone, and in this small space and time, and in these works are captured an impossibly minute fragment of that time and place. In these works can be captured that important, that wonderful, that grandiose moment of our lives. Whatever that moment, whatever that object, whatever the imagination brings, is that which I wish to convey in stone.
Most art pieces can be delivered by common everyday carriers. Do not worry for large works: We have carried a single 66 ton stone across the Great Plains, now the largest single stone in Nebraska. We can certainly deliver yours.
